He conducted postdoctoral research at UQAR from September 2018 to September 2020, following the completion of his doctoral degree in Geographic Information Sciences from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China in 2018. In October 2020, he joined the Arctus team as an EO specialist. With a strong background in radiative transfer modeling, algorithm development, and software development, Dr. Pan has developed algorithms and processors for the application of satellite multispectral imagery and airborne hyperspectral imagery to aquatic environment. While working at Arctus, he developed a new algorithm for atmospheric correction including adjacency effects correction of Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 images over inland and coastal waters (the new GAAC processor). Additionally, he has begun working on SDB and has developed the AI4SDB toolbox, a collection of Python procedures that combine AI and physics-based algorithms to predict optical shallow water and retrieve bathymetry from multispectral imagery, specifically Landsat OLI and Sentinel-2 MSI.
